SECRET WARS ARENA

FOLK OFF! COMPETITION
Festibelly returns, bigger and better, to the lush surroundings of the New Forest, Hampshire for its third year of music and fun. With two sell-out years under its belt, Festibelly has grown from 500 capacity beginnings in 2008 to a 2,000 capacity festival in 2010. The original intimate Festibelly vibe remains however, offering an up-close and personal experience of top live music, DJs, art and food in the surroundings of the wonderful New Forest countryside.

Additional areas to the main stage this year include: an acoustic stage hosting music, comedy and the return of the Folk Off! Competition, a late night disco and campfire, and Secret Wars also return with live art battles and installations in their own arena. Supporting local industry, Festibelly features the best haute cuisine the New Forest has to offer – from hog roasts to falafel.

The Big Pink. Electro-rock duo Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell won the prestigious NME Philip Hall Radar Award for best new act with their debut album 'A Brief History of Love', signed to the 4AD label, in 2009. Their hit single 'Dominos' has been ubiquitous over the past 12 months, featuring significantly on the advertisement campaign for Xbox 360, and won Best Track at the NME Awards this year.

King Charles. 2009 was a busy year for West London's King Charles. His debut single, 'Time of Eternity' was played by Radio 1 DJs Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank and Zane Lowe, he's spent the past year gigging everywhere from Glastonbury to tiny venues in the middle of nowhere to a support slot with Mumford & Sons and has recorded his debut album due for release this year.

Man Like Me. Led by mild-mannered Camden pin-up Johnny Langer, Man Like Me combine indie, rave, grime, ska and hip hop with matter-of-fact lyrics to create an unquestionably youthful British sound. They follow a lineage of artists such as Ian Dury, The Specials, Hot Chip and The Streets in making the everyday sound extraordinary.

My Tiger My Timing. My Tiger My Timing (brother and sister Anna Vincent and James Vincent, Jamie Harrison, Gary Drain and Seb Underhill) are named after a track by New York artist Arthur Russell and have recently recorded a version of his song 'Arm Around You' for a covers album on the Electric Minds label. They have also contributed songs to Modular's 'Leave Them All Behind Vol 3' compilation, French label Sisterphunk's Sisters EP and the recent Kitsuné Maison 8 sampler, alongside artists like Delphic, Chew Lips and Crystal Fighters.

Tek-One. Tek-One are a duo who create the heaviest dubstep out of circuit bent children's toys, broken keyboards, short-circuited toy amps, anything with AA batteries and a low bit-rate that was built in Taiwan and designed to amuse a young child for 30 seconds. The live show also incorporates DJing, live drums, synths, FX and needs to be seen to be believed.

Johnny Flynn. Multi-talented Johnny Flynn and his Sussex Wit hit the scenes with a bang in 2007/2008 with their album 'A Larum' which gained critical acclaim in Rolling Stone magazine. With them labelling him “the next poster boy of the nu-folk scene”. Now signed to Transgressive Records, the new album 'Been Listening Through' is ready to hit the shelves in June this year.

O Children. Fans of goth rock have a new favourite in the form of O. Children with Tobi O'Kandi, Andi Sleath, Gauthier Ajarrista and Harry James. The new single Ruins was released on April 19th and follows on from the debut single 'Dead Disco Dancer' and has proved to be every bit as popular.

Lulu and the Lampshades. If you were worried that there hadn't been a quirky folk-pop group for ages then you can worry no longer, Lulu and the Lampshades have saved the day. You couldn't listen to their October single 'Feet to the Sky' without smiling or just feeling warm inside, a definite remedy for any blues you may have.

Lucky Elephant. Formed “almost accidentally” Emmanuel 'Manu' Labescat, Sam Johnson, Paul Burnley, Laurence Clack joined forces after being involved in separate things and ran with it. Signed to Sunday Best Recordings, the Album 'Starsign Trampoline' and single 'Reverend Tisley & His Magic Lantern' are crammed with odd textures and beautiful melodies. The live experience is not to be missed.

Skinny Lister. Skinny Lister write beautiful tunes and play them to attentive, sensitive audiences alongside a family of musicians brought together in London town by chance, circumstance and friendship. The tunes that they play are evocative, romantic and set against the picturesque backdrop of the English countryside. Singles 'Plough & Onion' and 'December' are out now.

Brassroots. In 2008 Brassroots were formed among the streets of East London. An 8-piece horn and percussion ensemble compromised of an impressive groove and energy charged group of musicians from a variety of different countries and backgrounds, including England, Greece, Israel, France and America. With knock-out shows at Scala, Glastonbury and a previous Festibelly, they're sure to continue a blazing trail through the music scene.

The Sonics, rhythms, and instruments take influence from a huge range of music from across the world.
