A-Ha To Release Last Ever Single

On 20 September 2010, 25 years since the release of their first single, ‘Take On Me’, a-ha will be releasing their last ever track ‘Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’. Taken from their ultimate album 25 – The Very Best Of (released 4 October) this very special release and final piece of new material from the band marks a-ha’s farewell year.

After nine albums and sales of more than 36 million worldwide, it was announced on Thursday 15 October 2009 that 2010 would see the end to the expansive career of the iconic pop band. 'Butterfly Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)' will be the band’s final release and is the perfect upbeat track that provides fans with the classic synth pop sound that the Norwegian trio are renowned for. The career retrospective album, which features the single, 25 – The Very Best Of, celebrates the astounding contributions the band has made to popular music for the past three decades.

Starting where they began, acclaimed director Steve Barron will work with a-ha once again and provide the perfect accompaniment to ‘Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’ with the band’s final music video. Considered as one of the most iconic music videos of all time, Baron directed a-ha’s groundbreaking ‘Take on Me’ as well as ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’, ‘Hunting High and Low’ and ‘Cry Wolf’. Other memorable works include Michael Jackson’s ‘Billy Jean’ and Dire Straits’ ‘Money for Nothing’.

To finish off the year and, quite literally, ‘end on a high note’, a-ha will embark on their final tour this November when they will be playing 10 arena dates throughout the UK as part of their 'Ending On A High Note Tour'. The band will also perform a special one off performance in front of a sold out audience at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 8 October where they will be performing their groundbreaking debut album 'Hunting High And Low' in full for the very first time.
