Hard Rock International and Absolute Radio have today announced that their joint monthly live music shows ‘Hard Rock presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ will be heading to Scotland for their next destination, Edinburgh! On 16 August, Brit indie-rockers The Courteeners will perform at Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh, taking the Sessions to another country for the the very first time since their inception – and for the first time bringing a comedy element to the shows.
‘Hard Rock presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ have been taking place at Hard Rock Cafe London since February and now more recently at Manchester, with Editors, Scouting For Girls, Amy Macdonald, Joshua Radin and Feeder all performing exclusive sets on the Hard Rock stages and airing on Absolute Radio.
Tickets can be won by tuning into Absolute Radio, visiting link, or via local competitions and promotions. This exclusive show will broadcast on Absolute Radio on Thursday 2 September from 6pm in Geoff Lloyd’s Drivetime.
For an extra treat for guests, a variety of comedy acts will follow The Courteeners’ live performance, acts who will all be featured in the Edinburgh Festival this month. Local boy Daniel Sloss will be making his Hard Rock debut by taking to the stage for a performance described by Time Out as ‘charming, self-deprecating and genuinely funny’. Plus Gareth Richards from Frank Skinner’s show on Absolute Radio, and ‘Barry from Watford’, a regular guest on Iain Lee’s show on Absolute.
The Courteeners came to prominence in 2008 with their first and widely appraised album ‘St Jude’, hitting the top 5 while notching up a simultaneous string of high profile live appearances. The Manchester four-piece including members Liam Fray, Michael Campbell, Daniel Conan Moores and Mark Cuppello can count Morrissey as a staunch supporter and have gone on to their well received and second top ten album ‘Falcon’ in 2010. This Hard Rock and Absolute radio hosted show will be the perfect opportunity to experience The Courteeners up close and personal, demonstrating their live material at it’s very best.
‘Hard Rock Presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ continue Hard Rock’s commitment to hosting live music events – within the last few years the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, KT Tunstall and Wet Wet Wet have all played at Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh – as well as amplify Absolute Radio’s commitment to delivering the best live music to its listeners.
National station Absolute Radio is all about live music – the station has broadcasted live from the Isle of Wight Festival, Hard Rock Calling, V Festival and has had more than 100 sessions in the Absolute Radio studios from the likes of Chris Martin, Kasabian and Lily Allen. For the station’s first birthday Breakfast Show DJ Christian O’Connell hosted a traffic stopping gig on Regent Street to thousands of Absolute Radio listeners creating a real moment in music history.
