Arcade Fire's latest album The Suburbs is set to reach number one this week, making it the Canadian band's first UK number one.
The midweek sales have revealed that the band's third album is to knock Eminem's Recovery off the top spot and move it down to number two.
The band who are headlining Reading and Leeds Festival this month are also performing one of their biggest shows to date tonight at New York's Madison Square Garden, with the event being streamed worldwide on YouTube for free.
As reported by The Canadian Press singer Win Butler is said to be conscious that fans will be subjected to some in-your-face advertising, but ultimately thought it was a worthy sacrifice to make. It was kind of too big an opportunity to pass up.
The show is part of a growing trend that is seeing bands team with YouTube to get their music seen and heard globally by those that can't get to these high-profile shows. The scheme is deemed a success as last October U2 managed to attract 10 million online viewers with one of their concerts.
