Flash Fiktion - Leni / Science Of Sleep
Album Review

Flash Fiktion – Leni / Science Of Sleep

Underworld exchanging cocktail recipes with The Pet Shop Boys whilst trying to remember what garage sounded like. This is the disjointed picture painted by the Elephant & Castle trio of Flash Fiktion for ‘Leni’.

The paranoid pinch doesn’t really add the intended bite and the discordant nature seems a little fake and rehearsed at times, although there is some defiance and snazzy sampling that captures a little interest.

A slower, almost Klaxons on comedown tone attaches itself to ‘Science Of Sleep’. Spice and variety is provided by the odd psych’ pop-rock interlude, making this AA side more out there and ear-catching.

There is something here, but to get to the cutting edge you have to get through some unnecessary fodder.
