… AND MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED!

Deep, deep in the darkest recesses of the East Neuk of Fife, you’ll find Fence Records – a rag-tag collective of singer-songwriters, electronic acts and heavily bearded, often Scottish, musicians. For the past seven years they’ve hosted an event called Home Game, in their hometown of Anstruther – showcasing their eclectic roster alongside a bevvy of specials guests. Now they are proud to announce details of their first ever Away Game – being held over the 24th and 25th September on the Hebridean island of Eigg.

Home Game founder and Fence Records label manager, Johnny [Silver Columns] Lynch announced plans for this Away Game back in May, on the Fence Records website. Scant information was given out – only the festival dates, the location and an aerial picture of the island were revealed. Tickets went on sale two weeks later, and completely SOLD OUT in just 6 minutes – without a single act announced! Jings!

Johnny reveals all …

“Why Eigg? Well, we realised the reason a lot of folk make the pilgrimage to Fife for Home Game is because Anstruther is a pretty sea-side tourist town, and it feels like a bit of a holiday. With Away Game, we fancied putting on an event where it feels like we’re ALL on holiday! Our pal Sarah invited us over to Eigg a few years ago, for a birthday party – and we’ve been hatching plans to put on an event over there ever since. It is such an intensely beautiful island – and it’s population (about 70 people) are all party animals. I’ve been hanging out with them all this past week, and they’re extremely excited about meeting every single one of yiz!”

“Silver Columns are gonna be hosting the first night of Away Game entertainment, with the music taking a definite dance slant. We’ll be playing a live set in the middle of the evening – bringing up all our lights, our smoke machine and (oh yes) our disco ball – getting the crowd all buzzed up for a weekend of amazing music. We are literally going to force you to dance! YES! DANCE!”

Silver Columns release their new single “Always On” on 13th September on Moshi Moshi, accompanied by a Caribou remix of the track as the official b-side. The single is taken from the band's debut album “YES, AND DANCE”, released in May of this year.

Adem and Johnny begin their tour of the UK with James Yuill on the 26th October, taking in a London show at XOYO on the 28th October.
