Flo Rida Scores A Number One

Flo Rida has hit the top spot on the Official Singles Chart with his brand new single ‘Club Can’t Handle Me ft David Guetta’, stealing the crown from UK girl band, The Saturdays. The single, which also features on the Step Up 3D official soundtrack, follows on from Flo Rida’s last single ‘Available ft AKON’, which released in the UK last November. Furthermore, a cluster of ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ remixes will be released via Atlantic on August 30, featuring the likes of Sidney Simpson and Felguk.

‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ released via Atlantic Records on August 2 and initially charted at #2 in its first week of release. However, the ever-growing bouncy single beat The Saturdays’ highly anticipated new track ‘Missing You’ to #1 this Sunday, and has now sold over a staggering 180,000 copies in the UK alone. Moreover, this isn’t the first time Flo Rida has beaten the quintet to the top spot – the rapper’s 2009 single ‘Right Round’ (sample of Dead or Alive’s 1984 single ‘You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)) stormed to the top of the singles chart last March, leaving The Saturdays’ official Comic Relief single ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ to peak at #2, becoming the first Comic Relief release not to chart at #1 in 14 years.

Following on from his previous chart success, Flo Rida’s sure-fire hit was produced by the infamous David Guetta (Britney Spears, Akon, Madonna). Having featured on five UK #1 number ones this year, David also stars on a forthcoming remix titled ‘FMIF’; the name taken from his sold-out Ibiza club night. Whilst ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ is continuing to enjoy huge support from Choice, Galaxy, Capital, Radio 1 and Kiss FM, the Grammy nominated Flo Rida also bought his energetic live show to London’s Heaven last week for a one-off fan show in support of the Step Up 3D soundtrack, released via Atlantic on July 26. 2008 saw the release of the rapper’s #1 4xRIAA platinum-certified dancefloor smash ‘Low (Featuring T-Pain)’ which stayed in the UK charts for over a year! ‘Right Round’ also became the US’ fastest million-selling digital track in history.

Club Can’t Handle Me (Sidney Sampson remix)
