Captured in March 2010 on the awe inspiring final night of the incredible 20th Anniversary “Rust In Peace” , the legendary Megadeth played their landmark, genre defining 1990 album “Rust In Peace” in its entirety in front of a rabid sold out house.
At this in incredible show at the Hollywood Palladium , not far from where founder and frontman Dave Mustaine formed the band in 1983, Megadeth's line up for the show was completed by the return of original bassist David Ellefson (Megadeth 1983-2002) to the iconic group after a whole eight years. Ellefson (bass) joined Mustaine (lead vocals, guitar), Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) for the performance.
Megadeth ripped through all time classics such as ” Holy Wars….The Punishment Due” and “Hanger 18”, along with bonus fan favourites from the incredible Megadeth album catalogue including the epic “Symphony For Destruction,” “Peace Sells,” and “Skin O’ My Teeth.”
The 80-minute Rust In Peace Live DVD was directed by Kerry Asmussen (Green Day, Jay-Z, Coachella). and also include exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, including a rare glimpse of the band rehearsing in their dressing room as they prepare to rock the stage.
Dave Mustaine explains “We are pumped to be able to share the Rust In Peace Live concert with you all around the world. The anniversary and David Ellefson coming back was better than a facelift and a bottle of Viagra for old Vic.”
Rust In Peace showcased a much tighter sound, with Dave Mustaine's writing style adopting a rhythmically complex progressive edge and is a defining quality of Megadeth’s sound and the one that perhaps most sets them apart from their ‘Big Four’ thrash brethren, Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. Megadeth's fiery mix of speed-metal ferocity and progressive instrumental virtuosity reached its pinnacle on Rust In Peace.”
Rust In Peace is considered one of the best and most influential metal albums of all time by fans and critics alike , standing alongside metal's true pioneers such as Metallica's “Master Of Puppets, Black Sabbath's ” Paranoid and Iron Maiden's “The Number Of The Beast”
