Stars And Sons Announce Tour (Sort Of!)

Surrounding the release of their debut album, ‘Good Morning Mother’, Brighton’s Stars and Sons have announced details of a Concept Tour through September and October. But that’s about all they know, so far…

The task: thirty gigs in seven days. Why seven days? Well, there was a special offer on at Travelodge, and it made economic sense to block-book the rooms. There is now the small matter of the gigs themselves, which have largely not been booked (oh dear).

So, we can tell you that Stars and Sons will be calling at the following locations:

Sheffield 27/9
Newcastle 28/9
Aberdeen 29/9
Glasgow 30/9
Manchester 1/10
Cardiff 2/10
Bristol 3/10

Here’s where you come in. The band will perform three or more booked gigs in each location, each day. Some of these will be proper, conventional shows: lights, stage, bar, wildly screaming crowd etc. But this is a band that paints all their own artwork (every bloody copy), write/produce their own records and film their own videos: they’re hardly playing by Pop Rules. So they also want to play for you, anywhere and everywhere, as part of their self-appointed ‘Thirty Gigs in Seven Days’ challenge.

As it’s rude to show up anywhere uninvited, they are asking you, the Great British Public, to play ‘Booking Agent’. If you have a house party / wedding / company presentation / particularly dull Maths class / church service that you want them to crash, then you need to get in touch. It will cost their kind benefactors precisely nothing: the band will bring all their own equipment, film the whole gig, and return weary yet happy (hopefully) to their cheap’n’cheerful accommodation each evening.

The only rule: no busking. That’s cheating. Well, save for 5 ‘busk passes’ for if the going gets particularly tough.

Rather than desperately playing anywhere, in reality they want to play everywhere, in the way that a band who truly love their music (and not playing by the rules) will. It is Guerrilla Gigging with a twist: the band will come to you. And with radio fans of the album including Lauren Lavern, John Kennedy, Marc Riley, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens, and having supported the likes of Hockey, Okkervil River and Dr Dog…well, they might just be on to something.
