Dinosaur Pile Up – Mona Lisa
A sonic edge and a Pixies backdrop alongside a little Supergrass slant helps this Leeds based fuzz rock trio, build up to their potentially oblique rocking debut album, ‘Growing Pains’.
The lead single ‘Mona Lisa’, covers the usual trials and tribulations that are grappled with when you come-of-age. However, there is a grinding, rhythmic groove that keeps the energy building and swerves the track away from a lame and repetitive pit.
There are times when you feel that more grit and rousing rhythm is called for, but doesn’t quite come along. However, they have the chance to do this in their debut and, if they achieve it? Then a career on the main stage at the likes of Leeds and Reading awaits.
