The former Ordinary Boys singer was reunited with his former spouse when they both appeared on reality TV show ‘Ultimate Big Brother’, and he admits the time they spent together reignited his feelings for her.
Preston – who was seemingly oblivious to Chantelle’s strong feelings for him during the series – said: “Of course I love her. We’ve gone through something so massive together, twice now. It’s obvious. No one can deny this strong connection we have. It’s really, really strong. And I think it was great to remember what that was. I’m just so glad to have her back in my life.”
The 28-year-old musician won’t rule out reconciling with Chantelle, 27, but he isn’t prepared to rush back into a romance.
He added: “My heart is telling me that I just need to make sure we can always be in each other’s lives. We just need to work out how.”
Chantelle – who broke down in tears on several occasions in the Big Brother house – also admits she is in love with Preston but is unsure if they will get back together.
She said in a joint interview with Preston in Britain’s OK! magazine: “For the last few years I just thought I was unhappy. I never realised it was because I was still in love with Preston. At least now I’ve worked that out I can do something about it. I just thought I was unlucky in love, but now I know I never really got over Preston.
“He’s the same old Preston to me. That’s a nice thing. I just think of him like a little boy. I can laugh with him more than I ever did with any man.”
Chantelle and Preston – who met on reality TV show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in January 2006 – got engaged three months after the programme ended and married in August that year.
The couple announced their separation just nine months after they tied the knot.
