Jack Johnson VS The Lonely Island – At Or With Me

Jack Johnson has made gentle fun of himself as the ‘mellow guy’ in the this brilliant collaboration with Saturday Night Live comedian Andy Samberg.

18 million selling artist Jack Johnson follows his ecstatically-received, sold out O2 Arena gig this month, his triumphant appearances at Glastonbury and The Eden Project and his Number One second album ‘To The Sea’ with a new single ‘At Or With Me’.

Andy Samberg is one of The Lonely Island trio, a Saturday Night Live player and one of America’s most well known comedians. His musical shorts have been wildly popular on Youtube – racking up over 200 million plays in total. These include a duet with Justin Timberlake (‘Dick In A Box’), a song with T-Pain (‘I Am On A Boat’) which has had over 45 million views. ‘Jizz In My Pants’ another song with his Lonely Island cohorts has had over 88million views. In 2009 The Lonely Island released a Grammy award nominated debut album ‘Incredibad’.

The skit for Johnson’s ‘At Or With Me’ is destined to join these Youtube classics.

It’s one of the Jack’s album’s jauntiest moments, resembling an upbeat version of The Beatles’ ‘Don’t Let Me Down’.

Full of celebratory chants and heady blues pop riffs, the song finds Jack’s full-bodied and yet innately laid-back vocal attempting to fathom the true intentions of the people around him: “Are they laughing at or with me?”

The ensuing chaos as Samberg and Johnson have a bar fight has to be seen to be believed.
