The organisers behind In The City 2010, the UK's premier new music convention – which takes place in Manchester on October 13th, 14th and 15th October – have announced that BBC 6 Music will broadcast live from the event.
As part of the station’s support for this year’s event BBC 6 Music presenter Steve Lamacq will be presenting his show live from In The City on Thursday 14th October (4.00-7.00pm).
A major part of this show will be Steve’s popular Roundtable discussion, which sees the best new music releases debated by a panel of experts. Steve will be joined by Elbow front man, and fellow 6 Music presenter, Guy Garvey, journalist John Robb and legendary Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook.
Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable will be broadcast live in front of an audience of In The City delegates.
6 Music’s Marc Riley will also be reflecting In The City in his programmes on 13th and 14th October (7.00-9.00pm). Broadcasting from BBC Manchester, Marc welcomes two In The City bands, No Age and Mazes, in to the studio to play live for listeners.
In The City Director Yvette Livesey, who developed the original format of the event in partnership with the late Anthony Wilson said, “We are delighted that BBC 6 Music have chosen to come to In The City. Steve Lamacq, who has long been a friend of In The City, will be broadcasting his excellent show live in front of our delegates during the event.”
