The Twilight Sad and Errors –

Imagine walking into a room and being instantly greeted by a large crowd filling almost the entirety of the area. You move to the middle and you can already feel the heat getting to you as a little bit of sweat drips off the back of your neck. That my friends is the atmosphere of Manchester’s Deaf Institute on this very night.
Errors kick off the show as the second band on the bill. The crowd nod their heads away in rhythm. The bands sound permeates around the small venue as tracks such as ‘A Rumour in Africa’ and ‘Dance Music’ go through the crowd. Making the crowd stand still clearly wasn’t the aim of Errors tonight as their music made the floor vibrate and move. Even if you wanted to stand still you couldn’t help but be forced somehow to move to the music. Front man James Hamilton made a great connection with the crowd and even triggered screams of “more” and “boo” as he told the crowd that they were playing one more song.

Finally it was the Twilight Sad’s turn to take the stage and they had attracted the largest crowd of the night. If you haven’t seen the band live before then you should. The guitars penetrated through the room with great power and passion. Front man James Graham looked like he was in a trance all night as he leaned back with his eyes shut. The drums pounded and went through your ears like they were going to war. The crowd danced as the band continued their set which sounded like a sonic blast going through your mind.

Both bands were strong tonight. They provided strong sets through different sounds. It was interesting to see how each bands different sound compared to each other live. They were both stark in contrast but both very good live.
