After a year spent racking up fantastic album reviews for their debut “YES AND DANCE” from the likes of Q, The Big Issue and Mixmag, playing high-profile slots at every summer festival from Lovebox to Glastonbury to Bestival, and quietly building up a reputation as one of the most delightfully off-kilter electro-pop duos around, Silver Columns are now going full-circle and re-releasing the single which launched them to acclaim in the first place – the whizzing, fizzing, pinging and ponging arms-aloft anthem “Brow Beaten”.
“Brow Beaten” is a slab of brilliantly bonkers pop, beginning with a propulsive keyboard line before building and building steadily into a manic, euphoric crescendo. And this time round, the duo of Adem and Jonny Lynch have also enlisted an army of remixers to pull apart their opus and reassemble them as they please, with Optimo, Dreamtrak, Disco of Doom, Donovans and Moonlight Matters, among others, having their wicked way the track, as well as Joe Goddard, who remixed it the first time around.
In addition, the rest of the year is shaping up to be an extremely busy time for the boys, with a slew of dates with Underworld in the wings for November, as well as their very own co-headline tour with James Yuill in the coming weeks. And – in true, leftfield Silver Columns tradition – they will also be offering fans a chance to remix “Brow Beaten” for themselves. Just head to silvercolumns.tumblr.com for more information.
