Take what is quite possibly the most identifiable riff on earth, the world’s biggest dance hall superstar and one of house music’s most legendary producers, throw them together and what you get is a killer crossover anthem likely to have them jumping from Kingston to Kuala Lumpur and everywhere in between!
Tik Tok, the massive new collaboration between Frenchman Bob Sinclar and Jamaica’s Sean Paul, is set to land on airwaves and in clubs at the end of October and we’re predicting it’s going to be nothing short of a phenomenon. From the 2 Unlimited ‘No Limit’ sample to Sean Paul’s razor sharp lyrics that he unleashes at unprecedented speed, Tik Tok takes absolutely no prisoners from its first beat.
Offering up remix tips in fine fashion are Ilan Khan, Dimitri Vegas, Michael Calfran and Joachim Gaurrad. Dimitiri Vegas’ refix adds even more bashment infused weight with booty bass and jacking, pulsing synth wobbles and rave sirens – it’s a rugged tune that would sit perfectly with all DJ’s, from Diplo to Switch and beyond. Next up to the dub plate is Ilan Khan, changing the context completely and re-fitting it for the house floor, with the introduction of uplifting synths wrapped closely around that riff, and the lyrical timbres of Sean Paul as he whips up the dancehall with vigour and his trademark flow.
Following in the wall-shaking footsteps of these two soundboy-slaying remixes is fellow Frenchman Joachim Garraud, serving up a pounding, tribal twist on this rugged dancehall smasher – funky but staunch beats, a winding rhythm and thudding percussion, this tune will turn the heads of even the most seasoned veterans. The final interpretation from Michael Calfran comes on strong like a rogue kick drum, offering a sexed up deep techno mix perfect for the after hours clubs, with subtly building hoover bass and clapping percussion suited to the walls of Berghain and Ministry in equal measure, offering an extra club bound experience to this tasty and pumping, strong package.
Bob Sinclar & Sean Paul – Tik Tok is released on October 30th through Universal (France), AATW (UK) and other international labels from iTunes and all other major online download stores.
