Star in the Hood clothing, founded in 2007 by Tinchy Stryder (the biggest selling British male solo artist of 2009), takes a major step towards spreading the brand way beyond its East London roots when it launches its brand new collection in stores and online at JD Sports from 25th October 2010. Tinchy and his people have reached a deal with the number one sports fashion retailer in the UK, JD Sports, to have Star in the Hood products stocked online and at selected JD stores. The launch into JD Sports really breaks new ground for the much-talked about 360 degree label and artist deals, establishing a high street clothing brand alongside #1 hit singles, Gold album sales, and sold out UK tour dates for Tinchy Stryder.
To support the launch, Tinchy Strdyer will be making personal appearances at the following stores:

Firmly established in the UK as a bona-fide pop-star, music mogul, (Tinchy is partners in a joint venture with global megastar Jay-Z) and now fashion entrepreneur, Tinchy proves with this new expansion that he continues fly the flag for British design and innovation and as the Times newspaper stated recently also shows that “British Urban music need no longer look jealously at the US” (The Times). The Star in the Hood collection is all about classic, stylish t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jog-suits and jackets for both men and women.
The clothing is designed with significant input from Tinchy himself, making sure the collection stays true to its original concept: However the new lines also reveal the influence of the likes of Armani, Levis and Gucci.
“JD is somewhere I have shopped for my clothes and trainers for years” states Tinchy. “To know that the brand I started in my bedroom back in 2008 is now available in JD stores across the country is a dream.”
Island Records Commercial Director, David Hawkes, adds, “Having taken a brand concept from the bedroom to the biggest UK Sports Fashion retailer in a little under two years is a fantastic achievement. The brand is supported in over 60 highly regarded independent fashion outlets across the UK, but in launching with JD who currently have over 400 stores across the UK and Europe, Star in the Hood has just entered the Premier League. The business partnership with JD Sports, alongside our existing retailers, is really very exciting, and offers up an incredible opportunity to really establish Star in the Hood as a High Street sports fashion brand.”
Tinchy releases his new album ‘Third Strike’ on 15th November.
