After recently touring Europe in support of the legendary Lou Rhodes, Jay Leighton returns to British shores this autumn for a series of UK live dates ahead of his first full-length album release in 2011.
Jay’s music career began in 2008 with a major label deal for his band Buffalo ’77. The trio, fronted by Jay, quickly gained momentum and signed to Island Records, but later parted ways with the label and split as a band. Disillusioned with the music industry and all it had to offer, Jay seriously considered quitting music altogether, but soon found himself back in the studio recording new material in the form of a self-penned mini-album, ‘Polaroids and Stills’.
Released in late 2009, the limited edition mini-album was well-received by press, radio and most importantly, by fans and listeners. Its success led to a series of shows and festivals worldwide during the first half of 2010, and soon after this, Jay found himself being invited on a full European tour alongside Lou Rhodes.
Now back in Britain, Jay embarks upon a sporadic set of live dates up and down the UK this autumn, as well as heading back into the studio to record his forthcoming debut album which is set for release in the spring.
Until then, Jay has made the beautiful ‘Night and Day’, taken from last year’s mini-album, available for free download: link.
