Saturday, 6th November sees the next instalment of Topman’s in store DJ programme ‘Saturday Matinee’ in its Oxford Circus flagship store. The menswear destination on the British high street with its recently added second floor housing new Topman collections such as ‘AAA’, the latest Topman Limited trend ‘Helmsman’ and ‘Topman Design’ as well as hand-picked ‘Superbrands’. What better way to shop on a Saturday afternoon than with a soundtrack provided by some of the most up-and-coming and influential trendsetting bands, promoters and DJs on the London and national music scene. Saturday Matinee further enhances Topman’s ongoing support of the brightest musical talent around and perfectly compliments our existing music platform Topman CTRL (topmanctrl.com).
The first couple of months’ programming includes current NME Radar Tour favourites ‘Chapel Club’ as well as bands ‘Clock Opera’ and British etherealists ‘Still Corners’. Influential promoters such as ‘Russ Tannen’ (East London club nights FTWB and Progress) and ‘Club.The.Mammoth’ (London club nights at The Old Blue Last, Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and Lock Tavern) also add their name to an ever growing and exciting line-up leading up to Christmas and continuing into the New Year.
The third instalment of Saturday Matinee (6th November) sees much talked about band ‘Still Corners’ fill the 1pm-3pm slot followed by acclaimed promoter ‘Russ Tannen’ play the 4pm-6pm slot.
With a deep love of film and sixties-sound production, ‘Still Corners’ write dreamy pop songs, full of swirling organs, big drums and lush vocals. Still Corners have built a reputation for heart-stopping live performances mixing film projection with soaring landscapes and are heavily influenced by ‘60’s girl groups.
By day Russ Tannen books bands for Vice Magazine’s Old Blue Last pub in Shoreditch and by night he is the promoter behind East London Club Nights FTWB and Progress. Russ also manages to find time to take the reins as Music Editor for the bi-annual Volume Magazine and has played DJ Sets alongside the likes of Mark Ronson and The Juan Maclean.
Catch both ‘Still Corners’ and ‘Russ Tannen’ as part of Saturday Matinee while you can and stay up to date with the latest news and additions to the line-up at topman.com and topmanctrl.com.
