As the music community begins to scour the blogs and gig venues for those tips of 2011, their search should certainly begin with Primary 1, AKA British musician Joe Flory. After releasing two tastemaker singles (‘The Blues’ featuring Nina Persson of Cardigans fame and ‘Princess’), he is set unleash new single ‘Never Know’ on December 6th, yet another delicious taster from his upcoming debut album set for release in February 2011.
Produced by Primary 1 with a bit of help from Paul Epworth (Plan B, Florence etc) and mixed by the legendary Phillipe Zdar (Phoenix, Cassius etc), the album is a considered exercise in intelligent pop writing and is going to surprise a lot of people with its warmth and unique sound.
The single package will include remixes by the newest and brightest on the club scene, including Gucci Vamp, Submerse and The Shoes. It will be available to purchase digitally. Pitchfork said “There's more colors than a box of crayons in [the] eye-catching video” – watch it at the link above.
Over the past few months, Joe has kept himself busy by writing with two of pop’s most exciting starlets, Clare Maguire and Cocknbullkid. He’s also set up a residency at an East London venue. For details on these events, go to his MySpace: link
