As 2010 draws to a close We Have Band’s final offering of the year reminds us why the buzz began. The single, “Love, What You Doing?” is the third taken from their critically acclaimed debut album WHB and displays their brand of dark disco that so many have fallen in love with.
Set within the bleak frequencies of vintage sounds, pulsing bases and tight beats this standout album track tells the story of where life on the dance floor can turn sour. “Babycake’s got shakes” indeed. With dead pan verse and rousing chorus it’s left to Dede WP to assert “But She Can Stay Alive!”.
The track proved to be an early favorite when the album first surfaced and as ever there is a killer remix package to accompany the release with James Yuill (moshi moshii) hinting at the Mike Oldfield majesty within, Anoraak (Grand Blanc / Naïve) showing why they are the French re-mixers du jour and teenagersintokyo (Backyard) let the ethereal vocals roll in style.
The single is released as the band complete their 2010 live schedule, one which has taken in 132 shows including 36 festival appearances. Full tour listing below. Time for a well earned rest we think before work begins on album 2.
