Sound Of Guns To Headline Liverpool Sound City

The UK’s coolest boutique urban festival, Liverpool Sound City, announces its first wave of headline performers today for May 2011.

Revered Liverpool indie rockers Sound of Guns lead the charge, headlining one of the prime shows at the sumptuous and prestigious St George’s Hall which has already witnessed scintillating sets from The Wombats, The Zutons and Ian McCulloch in previous LSC years. Fresh from the success of their summer debut album, What Came From Fire, Sound of Guns brim with big room anthem sounds and infectious vocals. Having already dazzled LSC Dubai, they are also set to rock the 25th anniversary of SXSW next spring as their burgeoning reputation grows and their relationship with the festival continues to grow.

The Mercury-nominated The View, Sound of Guns and Liverpool’s finest The Sand Band all play at Liverpool Sound City’s Christmas party too, taking place at The Kazimier, on Sunday 12th December.

As part of the business conference for 2011, Liverpool Sound City have also announced they will be working with the historic publication Mersey Beat to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Founding Editor Bill Harry created the seminal newspaper in the early 60s which helped launch The Beatles to the world. The reputation of this iconic music bible remains hugely popular, with issue 13 recently selling for £25,000 at auction, indicative of its huge cultural and artistic reach. The 50th anniversary publication of Mersey Beat will reflect back on the publication’s importance whilst focussing on the new generation of talent playing at Liverpool Sound City in May 2011. Bill will also be taking part in a debate looking at the state of the music media today.

Liverpool Sound City has had a long standing tradition working with influential and key record labels, festivals and international websites. In the past we have seen Domino, Moshi Moshi, Deltasonic, Wall of Sound, XFM, Clash Magazine, Filter Magazine and Eat Your Own Ears present live events at the festival. In 2011 we continue this fine tradition with a series of showcases, late night sessions and parties across the city.

Live Festival Wristbands are now priced at £25 and will gain the holders access to 300 bands and artists over 3 nights of live music and exclusive parties across the city.

Full Delegate Passes are available at £99 for access to all networking parties, panels and seminars during the day. By night holders will also have access to all venues, headline gigs and secret parties.

Both Festival Wristbands and Full Delegate Passes will increase in price from 1st December to £30 and £110 respectively.

There will be no access to any events at Liverpool Sound City 2011 without a Festival Wristband or Full Delegate Pass so get them now while they are still at this unbeatable price.

Already established as an epoch-breaking music, arts, cultural and multi-media extravaganza, LSC is rich in burgeoning new sounds and styles from home-grown local bands through to the most dynamic and fresh talent sourced from around the world. LSC is replete with the latest film premiers, art exhibitions and is a cultural celebration of the city’s heritage and the wider scope of the UK’s contemporary music scene, championing current innovators and mavericks whilst heralding the next generation of futurists and avant-garde play-makers. Featuring such a broad array of interest, from the commemorative John Peel World Cup through to daily conferences with legendary keynote speakers and special guests, Liverpool Sound City is the only festival which brilliantly combines the diversity, eclecticism and vibrant spirit of Great Britain’s creative scene.
