The Record Player has a simple premise: each month we pick a influential year in musical history and host a night where we only play tracks released in those 12 months. It's a club night devoted to the sheer thrill of music you might not have been old enough to enjoy the first time round…
This New Years Eve, The Record Player will be taking another trip through time to celebrate the best music of the past. However in honour of the big night, we’ll be taking a trip through our musical archives to dig out the best party tracks from the past 50 years to create the ULTIMATE party soundtrack!
Starting in 1961 – a landmark year when music began to change forever – at 10pm and rolling through the years to our 2011 destination at 3am.
Expect to hear anything and everything as we move year by year through the best party music for the last half-century. Rock and Roll through to Hip Hop, Funk to Disco, Punk to Electro pop, from Stevie Wonder to The Clash, The Rolling Stones to Madonna, Elvis to Erasure, Madness to Oasis…
So come and join us to hear the sound of every New Year’s Eve party since 1961. Could this be ‘the Best of New Year’s Eve’? If you can’t wait until then to get involved – tell us your favourite party songs of the past 50 years via our blog at link and they may just get played!
In addition to the music expect drinks, dancing and more glitter than you can handle – especially as the clock strikes 12! This is guaranteed the best night for music in London on New Years Eve, come and celebrate with us on December the 31st!
The Record Player – we solemnly swear to never knowingly play the same record twice (unless it was a re-release in a different year and its just that good!)
