Bored with TV shows that ask for your votes on text lines? Fed up with opinionated judges who push their favourites? Suspect the whole thing might be fixed in any case?

YouBloom is a real song contest where real artists put themselves forward and the public votes for the winner. These are genuine recording artists looking for a break. And the luck winner will pick up €12,000.

The contest has reached its Grand Final, with four artists battling it out for victory. The finalists are Intermission (a three piece band from Derry), Renny C (the lead singer from metal band Forever Never), neevkennedy (an Irish folk/ acoustic singer) and Marina V (a Russian singer/ songwriter), and all four songs are well worth a listen.

You can also hear the entries that didn’t make the final, some of which are very good indeed.

This is a fun site with a great deal of good music on display. And the prize is well worth winning too!
