Measure of A Man has been released as a single by Young Rebel Set.
For anyone unfamiliar with the indie/ folk band from Stockton On Tees, this track gives an excellent introduction to their music. It has a rootsy, folk sound as acoustic guitars and rolling drums back the gravel tinged vocals of Matty Chipchase.
He asks the question in the title, wondering whether a man should be judged as a provider, a lover, a friend? Or by the truth in his heart?
And the song also has the type of rousing chorus and authentically honest lyrics that typify the band’s output, making it difficult not to sing along. Chipchase offers his heart and his soul, imploring his would be love to treat them delicately. But there is to be no happy ending here.
This is the lead offering from the band’s debut album, which will be released on 2011.
The single comes as a digital download along with two new tracks: The Reckoning and Love Me Once, Love Me Again.
