Turboweekend Give Away New EP

Turboweekend’s latest release “Bound”, features several prominent guests including Casper Clausen from Efterklang, Coco Malaika of Quadron and Ty Bulmer from New Young Pony Club.

Through hard work, focus and an ear for hit melodies, Turboweekend has climbed the ladder from underground darlings to audience favourites in their native Denmark. With their new EP ‘Bound’, out on 12″ vinyl and free download.

In a bold move the band will soon make all parts to all the tracks from ‘Bound’ available for download from the bands website, and the best remixes will be made official along with the best redesigns of the artwork and the best fan videos.

In fact, it won’t stop there as the band will also throw the doors open for fans to modify the band’s artwork and their videos too. This open attitude has been a part of the project from the beginning and a way for the band to show their fans how important they are to the band’s development and success.

The band are taking a fresh approach for their video to the track Into The Pavement (featuring Casper Clausen of Efterklang), and they’d like you to help them out. Simply film yourself and your friends miming to the song, and then upload it on the Fan Made page before Dec 10th (the page will be up in a few days). Turboweekend will then go through all your submissions and edit the best contributions together to become a completely ‘Fan Made’ video.

Martin Petersen Turboweekend’s drummer and lead singer Silas Bjerregaard explain the band’s recent journey “Our friendship goes back many years before Turboweekend started, and when you've played together for so many years your idea about your sonic potential can tend to stifle somewhat. After touring our album ‘Ghost Of A Chance’ for a year and a half we reached a point where we wanted to shake the bag and challenge our own self conception, and we had three strategies”.

First we chose the EP-format because we felt it was more spontaneous, and we were hoping that it might trick us into feeling more free, secondly we wanted to work with guest vocalists because a new voice can be incredibly inspiring and do so much to change the feeling of a song, and thirdly we wanted to record a cover song to see how other people's songwriting could affect us.

There in lies also the explanation to the EP's title ‘Bound’, which can mean both ‘tied down’ and ‘leap’.

The digital version of the ep contains 5 tracks and can be downloaded for free at link or following the links on their Facebook page at link, where you can also order the 12″ vinyl version which contains a bonus cover version of the Talking Heads song ‘Heaven’.

‘Bound’ follows up on the bands sophomore album ‘Ghost Of A Chance’ from 2009, which elevated the band into a new league and has turned out to be one of the most enduring Danish releases in a long time with sales and radio airplay more than a year after its initial release. The band’s highly praised touring activity has also done a lot to boost the albums popularity. Their spring tour was sold out, and this summer they have appeared on numerous festivals including a headline at SPOT festival, and filled tents at both Roskilde Festival and Danmarks Smukkeste Festival.

The album has also opened doors outside of Denmark, where prominent acts like Dutch mega DJ Tiësto and UK dubstep darling Joker have both remixed the hit ‘Trouble Is’.

“It has been a very exciting process, and we are bursting with ideas for our 3rd full length album, which he have already started working on and expect to have ready in early 2011.” says bass player Morten Koie.
