The people who created The Flowerpot have found a new home.
It's only been three weeks since Kentish Towns much loved music venue was closed. However it's hard working promoters are happy to announce their new venue, The Wheelbarrow, will be opening at 55 Camden High Street on 3rd December 2010.
Opening weekend will see Hoodlums, Mystery Jets DJ’s, Huw Olesker and a special album launch show with Bean’s On Toast, billed to open the new venue in fine Flowerpot style. Other confirmed acts include Loud Minority, David Rodigan DJ, Real Fur, Crowns, The Head Gardener DJ, The Joker and the Thief, Hares, Damn Jammage and Border Surrender, plus a debut show from Bones, with quizzes, movie nights and special events scheduled across December, leading up to one massive New Years Eve show at the HMV Forum.
Promoters have promised the new venue will be, “A cosy little pub slap-bang on Camden High Street”, going on to say they’ve, “decorated the place, installed a top class PA, and most importantly, we’ll be inviting the worlds finest bands and DJs to come and entertain you.”
The Flowerpot was acclaimed for championing new music, uniquely never once charging entry into the venue. In its short history, Damien Rice, Mumford & Sons, Lissie, Frank Turner, Billy Bragg, Laura Marling, The Kooks, Jamie T, Florence and the Machine, Mr Hudson, Marina and the Diamonds, The Drums, and more recently, Mona, Brother and The Vaccines all appeared, among hundreds more.
The Wheelbarrow hopes to continue the legacy of The Flowerpot. It will be open daily from midday, and as was Flowerpot custom, all events are FREE ENRTY. The bar also promises “realistically priced alcohol” and free wi–fi, making The Wheelbarrow one of the best all-round pub experiences in North London.
Promoters would also like to remind Londoners that tickets for their New Years Eve show with Foals at the HMV Forum, that tickets are on sale now, and supports from Caribou (DJ) and the hotly tipped Trophy Wife and Chad Valley are also now confirmed.
