Miles Kane - Inhaler
Album Review

Miles Kane – Inhaler

There is obviously a hint of influence from The Arctic Monkeys. I know that’s an easy statement to make due to his part work in The Last Shadow Puppets, but you can tell he is still heavily influenced by them still as well as some of his fellow contempories of today.

The tune starts with a steady pace bass line that is then quickly played over with a grinding Stroke-esque guitar riff. Throughout the tune you hear a 60’s Northern Soul underlay, especially in the backing vocals, and psychedelic sounds that could be easily created by the Coral. The song is perfectly produced I must say.

All in the space of 3 minutes, the song appears to be over before it has started. It doesn’t really grab your attention nor does it make you want to dance. It doesn’t appear to be an instant classic, but still hopefully a statement of intent with what Kane plans for the future. He’s not known for his diversity of song writing style and sound, but still, watch this space; he may just surprise us yet.

Miles Kane has released his debut solo single ‘Inhaler’ on Columbia Records now.
The limited 7” and digital download b-side features a dazzling cover of Lee Hazlewood’s psych-pop classic, ‘Rainbow Woman’.
