Tapes N Tapes Release New Album

Minneapolis band, Tapes ‘n Tapes are pleased to announce the upcoming release of their new album, Outside, on their original label, Ibid Records. This is the band’s third full length, following their 2005 debut, The Loon, and 2008’s Walk It Off, both released via XL Recordings.

After touring and supporting their last two albums for nearly five years, the band decided it was time to take a more relaxed approach with the creation of their new album. They re-launched their own label, Ibid Records, original home to The Loon, and purposefully took their time to have fun working on the record – the 12 tracks, from “Badaboom” to “Mighty Long” prove that! The songs that make up the new album are playful and melodic, while also capturing the essence and energy of their live shows.

Singer, Josh Grier says of the recording process, “When it came time to make our new record, it made sense to do it ourselves. Our contract expired and the music industry had changed immensely. We decided to give it a go. Most of all, we wanted to have fun making the record, and doing things on our own allowed us the freedom to enjoy the process of making the record. We weren't making a record that a label was going to own. We were just making a record for ourselves. We feel very fortunate that we got to make it the way we wanted with such a great group of people. We can't wait for people to hear the record.”

Tapes ‘n Tapes recorded and produced Outside in their hometown in March 2010 at The Terrarium in Minneapolis, MN. The next step was having the talented Peter Katis (Interpol, The National) lend his ears to the mix. Grier joined Katis at his Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT while Katis mixed the record to perfection.

Tapes 'n Tapes are giving away a free download of their ace single, 'Freak Out' from the album. Check it out here – link

Tapes ‘n Tapes is made up of Josh Grier on guitar and lead vocals, Matt Kretzmann on keys and horns, Erik Appelwick on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Jeremy Hanson on percussion.
