A project for the former half of Manchester’s Butler – Williams to dip his fingers into, We Are Willow provides mellow, folk tinged music that also displays emotional frailties among the endless sea of post punk and art rock bands coming out of the post industrial city. There’s an ooze of celestial otherness through the harmonic chimes drawing allusions of a vagabond drifter whilst the odd ‘Hail to the Thief’ style ambience crawls its way in. Here’s proof that less is sometimes more.
