Super early bird tickets for Summer Sundae Weekender 2011 will be going on sale this Friday, the 3 December. The special Christmas deal tickets cost just £100 – a saving of £15 on the full price. These festive ticket prices would make the ideal Christmas present but are only available for a limited period at this super early bird price – until Sunday 2 January. Planning the best weekend of the summer is surely the ideal way to beat those winter blues.

Summer Sundae Weekender has long been considered a vanguard in the contemporary music festival calendar. Since its inauguration in 2001 it has rapidly expanded to a 3 day, 6-stage festival, with over a hundred acts. With a holistic approach to planning it has consciously retained the same boutique/bijou atmosphere and laid back cadence as the 1 day, 2 stage event 9 years ago. 2010 saw the festival celebrate its 10th year and what a year it was, with sell-out dates and the finest and most eclectic of line-ups being enjoyed by more than 6,000 people.

Year on year Summer Sundae Weekender has delivered a broad spectrum of emerging and established artists from the field of music and comedy. This year headliners included arguably the ‘Band of the Year’ Mumford & Sons, chart-topper Tinchy Stryder and rambunctious blues-god Seasick Steve. Past headliners have included Belle and Sebastian, Patti Smith, The Charlatans and Billy Bragg. Summer Sundae also always has its finger firmly on the pulse of what’s fresh, new and earmarked. In years gone by Amy Winehouse, Eliza Doolittle, Mr. Hudson, Kate Nash, Jamie T, Hot Chip, Editors and Kasabian have all appeared on the Summer Sundae Weekender stage, just on the cusp of their mainstream success.

As well as musical offerings, there is a multitude of other delights to entice visitors of all ages including comedy and cabaret tents, a silent disco and this year a beach-side resort being brought to land-locked Leicester. To celebrate the festival’s 11th outting, Summer Sundae Weekender will undoubtedly raise the bar once again, delivering the level of diversity and intimacy in performances that its patrons have come to expect. The weekend of the 12th – 14th of August will undoubtedly emerge as the weekend of the summer!
