Frankie And The Heartstrings Announce The Hunger Tour

Frankie & The Heartstrings announce a thirteen-date UK tour for February today following the announcement last week of their debut album. Titled “Hunger”, the album was produced by Edwyn Collins and will be released on 21st February 2011 on PopSex Ltd / Wichita Recordings.

Frankie & The Heartstrings play an NME Awards Show at London’s Heaven on the day the album comes out.

February tour dates in full:
11 – Live Lounge, Durham
12 – Metropolis @ The Empire, Middlesborough
15 – Cluny, Newcastle
16 – Cockpit, Leeds
17 – Academy 3, Manchester
18 – Fibbers, York
19 – James E Brown Room, Liverpool
21 – Heaven, London (NME Awards Show w/ Those Dancing Days and Veronica Falls)
22 – The Cellar, Oxford
24 – New Slang, Kingston Upon Thames
25 – Dempsey's Cardiff
26 – Academy 2, Birmingham
27 – Fleece, Bristol

The album will be preceded by the release of “Hunger” as a single on 14th February – a new recording of the song that introduced this special Sunderland five-piece to the world last December via a one-off ltd edition 7” vinyl on Rough Trade.

“The original idea for “Hunger” was drawn from the meaning of the word in the 1890’s novel “Hunger” by Knut Hamsun,” explains singer Frankie Francis. “It’s a term that invokes all our inspirations, be it musically, literary or physically, for the cause. We have overcome many sacrifices on our own individual journeys and gather a bigger passion for the cause each day”.

The record was produced by Edwyn Collins at his West Heath Studio in London. “It's been amazing and magnificent to work with the wonders of Sunderland,” he says of their time in the studio and on tour together in November. The album features previous singles Hunger/Fragile and Tender/Want You Back, which so far have only been available on limited edition 7” vinyl.
