Janelle Monae Adds Five New Dates

Following on from her recent sensational UK dates, including a headlining gig at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire which sold-out in under four hours, Janelle Monáe is set to return for five more UK shows “ablaze with energy and ideas, the whip crack discipline of James Brown and the acid-rock wildness of Funkadelia” (Guardian).

The five headlining UK dates have been announced for February & March including a London Roundhouse date (all dates below):

February:
24: Bristol Academy, United Kingdom
25: Birmingham Institute, United Kingdom
26: Glasgow ABC, United Kingdom
28: Manchester Acedemy, United Kingdom

March:
1: London Roundhouse, London

Janelle Monáe has been nominated for TWO GRAMMY AWARDS!: Best Urban/Alternative Performance for ‘Tightrope’ and Best Contemporary R&B Album for ‘The ArchAndroid’.

Janelle Monáe’s current album ‘The ArchAndroid’ has also topped the UK end of year polls, with Mojo, Q, Uncut, Word, Clash and Drowned in Sound rating it high in their ‘Top 50 Albums of 2010’ round-ups, with Mojo making Janelle Monáe’s single ‘Tightrope’ their ‘Single of 2010’.
