This Saturday (18th December) sees the final Saturday Matinee of 2010. If you’re new to Saturday Matinee then over the last few months you’ve missed taste makers and hotly tipped bands such as Chapel Club, Summer Camp, Wild Palms, Man Like Me and Clock Opera DJ’ing in the Topman Oxford Circus Store. If you’ve left your Christmas shopping until the very last minute surely there can be no better way to take the stress out of a Saturday on Oxford Street than by heading into Topman and hearing some of the most upfront and freshest music around at the moment whilst you pick up some last minute Christmas presents. Saturday Matinee further enhances Topman’s ongoing support of the brightest musical talent around and perfectly compliments our existing music platform Topman CTRL (topmanctrl.com).
This week firstly we have Becoming Real filling the 1pm-3pm slot followed by promoters and Saturday Matinee favourites Dollop between 4pm-6pm.
Becoming Real is a one man operation masterminded by Toby Ridler. He makes music that straddles the blackest corners of grime, juke and hip-hop and recently released an EP ‘Tough Love’ through Moshi Moshi subsidiary Not Even. Having recently remixed Teeth and Banjo or Freakout there’s no doubt that Becoming Real is definitely one to watch for 2011.
Following on from Becoming Real are ‘Dollop’. Over the past 6 years ‘Dollop’ have earned a reputation as progressive and pioneering promoters across the London club scene. With East London conquered they have now set their sights on Central London’s famous ‘Heaven’ and in October launched a highly successful monthly residency featuring bands and DJs.
Catch Becoming Real and Dollop as part of this week’s Saturday Matinee and stay up to date with the latest news and additions to the line-up at topman.com and topmanctrl.com.
