Hiatus Christmas Day Giveaway

In an uncharacteristic bout of Yuletide generosity, Hiatus will be giving away an eight-track mini-album as a free download this Christmas Day. Previews of the tracks will be added to his YouTube channel daily until Christmas Day link>

The 15 minute mix will be available to download for free from Christmas Day: link

The album, Music For A Film, is a mix of instrumental hip hop and ambient interludes compiled as the soundtrack for a movie made earlier in the year, but which – for reasons beyond Hiatus’ control – was never released.

The tracks follow in the mould of the melancholic, Iranian-influenced electronica spearheaded by Save Yourself and the Ghost Notes LP, both of which have cemented Hiatus’ status as one of the UK’s most unique producers.
But far from the sprawling, genre-hopping grandeur of Ghost Notes, there’s an intimacy and continuity to Music For A Film deriving from the intensity of the three-week recording process; there’s also a vulnerability lent by the almost complete lack of samples.

Hiatus is planning on posting a separate 15-minute mix of the album in the hope that it might better score episodes in the lives of its listeners, even if it never ends up on the big screen. He will also be producing a video to accompany the mix, which he’ll release on Christmas Day.

“I didn’t want these tracks to end up gathering dust,” says Hiatus. “A lot of work went into the project, and it seemed a shame to waste it. And I feel I owe people thanks for all the support these last few months, so giving away a few tunes seems the least I can do.”
