Alexisonfire - HMV Forum
Live Review

Alexisonfire – HMV Forum

Rumoured to be their last appearance in London for a long time, tonight’s show is a pretty hot ticket.

With support coming from Chickenhawk and Computers the crowds pretty riled up pre performance, although the delay between main support and Alexisonfire is pretty frustrating, it’s worth the wait as they open up with Young Cardinals

After hearing the new EP it’s exciting to hear the reaction from the crowd as it’s played live, with this in mind, the personal high point of the night is hearing ‘Dog’s Blood’ played for the first time running straight into ‘this could be anywhere in the world’ and watching the whole of the forum going completely mental

Another highlight is watching George Pettit climbing up onto the top seated level of the forum, a normally fairly ignored section of the crowd.

The best thing about this show is that the band seem to have grown up, the new material goes down just as well (of not better) than some of the older stuff, and the atmosphere is instense

. .. it’s a shame that there seems to be no intention to create a full length album in the same style as the EP (which if you haven’t already listened to, frankly, you’re an idiot)

Finishing up with various members of the band spinning round lying on the floor and spraying water out their mouths, watching the show is probably just as exhausting as performing.

What’s refreshing about this show is that the band seem truly humbled by the crowds reaction… lets hope it inspires them to lay off the side projects and come back to the UK next year for round 2!
