In Arms follows ‘Tear Them Down’, his critically-acclaimed debut single which gained praise in the NME, The Fly and the Guardian, and considerable airplay from Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and John Kennedy.
Co-produced by Luke Smith (ex-Clor, Foals), ‘In Arms’ is a brilliant single, rich and ambitious, with syncopated dubstep rhythms and blasts of heavy brass, and ringing piano stabs. Its rolling groove is the bedrock on which Dixon’s vocal is allowed to soar from. It sounds strangely timeless – like Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd, whilst meeting the urban rhythms of today. It has a very English quality, whilst sounding almost otherworldly. It’s adventurous pop music for 2011 – magnificent, grand and utterly compelling. It cements David's Lyre as one of the most interesting new artists in the country.
Following the emergence of a string of YouTube videos, and remixes for Marina And The Diamonds and Everything Everything, East City Records released the debut single. Now signed to Hideout Recordings, David’s Lyre will be one to watch for 2011.
