Jodie Connor is the talented, feisty, Mancunian singer-songwriter who wrote and featured on urban-collective Roll Deep's first ever #1 smash-hit single 'Good Times' (which spent three weeks topping the UK charts).
Delivering a welcome dose of R&B-pop to the MC-laden homegrown scene, Jodie will be kicking off 2011 with her debut solo single 'Now or Never' ft. Wiley on January 16th through Polydor Records. Written by Jodie and produced by Dawood – the man behind Roll Deep's hit records – 'Now or Never' is a club-banger that will get the good vibes flowing. The track is clocking up good plays and comments on YouTube and with 2010 being all about the boys – Tinie, Tinchy, Labrinth – Jodie is definitely flying the flag for the girls in 2011. Jodie first honed her craft and skills with legendary musician Jazzie B from Soul II Soul: “When I heard her voice and met her, I thought wow she’s a star! Jodie always had a great voice and a good ear for music, which shows in her song-writing”. Jodie's next encounter was a meeting with the Godfather of Grime, Wiley in Manchester where her master-plan really began to take shape. Within three months of playing Wiley her music, together they created the electro-rave club smash 'Electric Boogaloo'.
Now ready to take centre stage, Jodie's been preparing for her debut album which will be out in 2011. She's been in the studio with RocNation writers Makeba Riddick (Beyonce/ Rihanna) and James Fontalroy (Chris Brown/ Leona Lewis/ Ciara) and the record will feature collaborations including Tinchy Stryder. Having opened for Diddy Dirty Money in Glasgow earlier this year and more recently Tinchy Stryder, Jodie's been working the tour circuit including a stint on the MOBO tour alongside Skepta and Scorcher and also the Roll Deep tour which included performances at Glastonbury, Wireless and Ibiza.
