Flying Lotus has launched a new website to say thanks to fans who have picked up his 2010 album, self described “space opera” Cosmogramma, by giving an unreleased selection of Flying Lotus MP3 downloads called ‘Cosmogramma Alt Takes’.

By taking their CD, vinyl and even mp3 download artwork*, fans can receive this never-before-heard, unreleased music delivered using a new interactive webcam image recognition technique. This ‘augmented reality’ interface requires the user to hold up their copy of the album to their computer’s webcam – upon recognising the album the website delivers the music as a download. Easy.

The ‘Trigger’ application was developed by Jeff Crouse in collaboration with Flying Lotus and Warp Records.

Undoubtedly one of the albums of 2010, Cosmogramma touches on Flying Lotus’s unique musical heritage, taking listeners on a mind-bending musical journey with help of friends Ravi Coltrane, Miguel Atwood Ferguson, Thundercat, Rebekah Raff, Thom Yorke and Dorian Concept amongst others.

This newly unveiled ‘Alt Takes’ package includes alternate versions from the album, giving a deeper insight into the alternate world Flying Lotus has created.
