Missing Review

When an actress is abducted and kept locked away in a remote part of a house in a remote part of the country, a desperate search is put on for her. But you know this will not have a happy ending by the scenes of brutality, torture and abuse the girl has to endure as her friends and family try to find her.

With the news in recent years bringing comparable tales, it makes for an even more unsettling view of  a man who lives a seemingly quiet life only to then take his frustrations out on a young actress he has made his captive. The tale is based on a real life event – which means we are not in the realms of enjoyable entertainment.

The film itself is fairly well told but it is hard to determine any metre as far as authenticity is concerned for the general public. But any torture porn fan will no doubt recognised many familiar traits used within. Tension is mounted not only by the torments that Hyun-ah is subjected to, but also by the efforts of her sister to try and locate her.

Asian genre fans will probably want to add this one to their collection, but file it under dark and shocking.
