They say 13 is an unlucky number and for some White Stripes fans, this might ring true. After 13 years together, the duo have split up.
The split hasn't been caused by rifts and tensions between the two, but in more of a Paul Weller splitting the Jam up agenda. The White Stripes say they want to keep all that's special and beautiful in the band.
The band have released the following statement:
“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong
to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is
that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your
involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.”
A collection of unreleased and live recordings will still be released through their Vault Subscription Record Club aswell as various other mediums.
