Devon-born Josh Bray will be releasing his debut single ‘Rise’ on 7th March from his upcoming debut album ‘Whisky And Wool’ on NewTide Records.
Rise was recorded during his album recording session at London’s Apollo Control Studios by renowned producer Howard Gray, who’s worked with Tom Jones, Van Morrison, Jimmy Page, U2 and the Cure. During this session Josh recorded half of the material for his debut album ‘Whisky And Wool’ which features singer Hannah Lou on backing vocals. The other half of the album was recorded at Truck Studios, run by the Bennet Brothers, members of the critically-acclaimed Oxford-based group Danny and The Champions.
It was during this recording session that the album received its name ‘Whisky And Wool’. “The studio is on a farmland in a metal shipping container within a barn,” Josh says. “The equipment was fantastic, but it was freezing cold, as we were there mid-winter. So we resorted to woolly jumpers and whisky to keep us warm.”
‘Whisky And Wool’ will be released the following week after the single on March 14th 2011 and you can see Josh and his band play at the Borderline on 3rd March in London to support the release.
