With over 2,000 tickets sold in the first week for the UK’s most creative and escapist festival, BoomTown Fair is hyped to unveil the first of the acts to grace the awesome Bassline Circus Dance Stage. Amongst the first acts to be revealed Boomtown Fair has; dancefloor devastater DJ Zinc, BBC Radio 1’s Toddla T & Serocee, multi-award winning queen of UK Garage Ms Dynamite, the heavy sound of The Bug, rising master crafter Redlight & MC Dread and one of dubsteps finest producers and DJ’s Emalkay, in their bass shuddering bill with two of Europe’s biggest dance headliners still to be announced!
Hailing from London’s east end, DJ Zinc first became involved in the dance music world via pirate radio, which led to the meeting of like minded DJs and producers at the birth of jungle – an exhilarating clash of breakbeats, basslines and samples that defined a generation of UK clubbing. He went on to produce some of the scene’s biggest anthems, most notably ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ and the remix of the Fugees’ ‘Ready Or Not’ – both of which still devastate dancefloors to this day.
Linking up with the legendary indie electro label Ninja Tune, Boomtown is bursting with excitement to showcase the flair of two premier DJ’s on their roster. One of Ninja Tune’s most recent signings Toddla T will be taking a break from his BBC Radio 1 show ‘In new DJ’s we Trust’ and bringing his genre smashing combination of hip-hop, electro, garage, dancehall and house coupled with his esteemed collaborator MC Serocee. Boomtowner’s need to be prepared for the volume to be pumped up and their ears to be salivating with the treats that are coming their way! Also winging their way to the Bassline Circus from the Ninja Tune coven is The Bug and Flowdan. As with Toddla T, The Bug’s sound defies easy categorisation, starting off in London’s vibrant dubstep scene The Bug have become recognised as ‘a place where dub, dubstep, grime and uncategorisation slab of righteous, super heavy sound and lyrical fury’ (MixMag)
Ms Dynamite is a multi-award winning alpha female of UK garage, R&B and Hip-Hop. Having been awarded 2 BRIT Awards, 3 MOBO’s and the critically acclaimed Mercury Music Prize she is one of the most celebrated UK female artists of the past decade. Over the last year she has gone from strength to strength, having recently collaborated with the likes of Zinc, Redlight, Katy B and Magnetic Man. Expect some banging beats, heavy basslines and explosive vocals in the Bassline Circus bunker!
Redlight is a Bristol-based artist navigating the unnamed airspace between house, breakbeats, dubstep and other well-loved dance music sounds. In his original incarnation as DJ Clipz, the producer and DJ soared through the ranks to become one of the most celebrated and respected artists in drum n bass. Operating at the forefront of the scene, he’s played all over the globe, become part of the Full Cycle family, launched his own Audio Zoo label and been responsible for some of the genre’s most essential releases of recent years. Starting afresh with a blank slate and free from any constraints, expectations or categorization – Clipz has now adopted the Redlight alter-ego in order to explore new musical territory.
Birmingham dubstep producer/DJ Emalkay, is one of the most exciting talents to emerge on the scene in recent times. With ‘When I Look at You’ voted The Best Dubstep track of the Year in 2009, Emalkay’s sudden rise to prominence was set. Now, with a handful of fresh tracks circulating amongst the hottest names in dubstep, things can only get better for the Birmingham producer who has his forthcoming album “Eclipse” on Dub Police Records out soon and is currently headlining events all over the world, including the United States and Australia.
Also on the bill are; Kings of Old Skool Ratpack, Brighton's number one dance floor destroyers Ed Solo & JFB, one of the scenes more eccentric artists High Rankin, breakbeat act Pyramid, Warrior One, Rack N Ruin, Tayo, Squire Of Gothos, Koan Sound and Mcmash Clan with more to be announced soon…
