At long last, I'm From Barcelona, one of the most exciting live bands in the world have announced their return to London with their first headlining show in the city since 2008. The gig will take place on 11th April 2011 at London's beautiful Notting Hill Tabernacle.
I'm From Barcelona were formed in 2005 after Emanuel Lundgren gathered 28 of his friends in the city of Jönköping and created the biggest band in Sweden. With early support and enthusiasm from tastemaker outlets like Pitchfork leading the charge, the media immediately embraced I'm From Barcelona.
One live show led to another and by early 2006 the band had a label deal and the EP ”Don’t Give Up on Your Dreams, Buddy!” was released, followed by the full-length album Let Me Introduce My Friends. The song ”We’re From Barcelona” became an instant hit.
Rolling Stone and The New York Times called them “Pretty damn charming” and “Euphoric” and the band quickly made a name for themselves touring all over the world. The live shows became famous for their explosive theatrical, birthday party-like feel. The stage is wholly consumed, bodies fly, and confetti rains. Barcelona were invited to play Coachella and Lollapalooza in 2007, with the latter going down in history, being named the #10 Best Live Performance of the Year by Time Magazine.
Live Performance is where I’m From Barcelona shines and their new London show promises to be an equally unforgettable night.
Tickets for the show are priced at £12.50 and will be available from link and from WeGotTickets, MusicGlue andTicketWeb from 9AM, Friday 18th February.
Their new album Forever Today will be released on 19th April 2011.
