Kassidy – I Don't Know

With a fantastic Summer of festivals, a year of endless touring and an impressive catalogue of critically acclaimed EP’s under their belts, Kassidy announce the release of their highly anticipated debut album – “Hope St.” – on 21st March 2011, on Vertigo Records.

“Hope St.” is nothing short of inspired. Everything from the early R&B of Howlin’ Wolf, to the prototype funk and disco of Sly & The Family Stone and the 21st century blues of The Black Keys is referenced here. It’s a remarkably infectious, energetic and graceful piece of work from a band still in their early twenties, in their artistic infancy. Loaded with optimism and despair in equal measures, the record is a beauty. “I believe in melodies in the air”, says frontman Barrie-James, “There’s melody everywhere, every time you walk down the street”.

The album features 12 tracks and was produced by their occasional collaborator/ bass player Thomas McNeice between his Rubbergum studio and their own home studio in Glasgow.

Kassidy will release the first single to be taken from the album – “I Don’t Know” – also on March 21st and will be playing two shows, as part of the HMV Next Big Thing sessions this February:
