Julian Velard – Love Again For The First Time

Native New Yorker, turned London resident Julian Velard returns with that straight off the Dock of the Bay voice and his own brand of beautifully sarcastic 70’s piano pop to give us his new single ‘Love Again For The First Time’, out on March 21st.

Buzzing with a feel-good pop gloss that combines the dramatic flourishes of a young Rufus Wainwright with the killer melodies of classic 70’s Elton John, the single is the first from Julian’s forthcoming album ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ and is the perfect introduction to his new creation. Written in London, it is inspired by British theatricality, light-heartedness and the sheer joy of straightforward pop music and is packed with brazenly brilliant tunes.

The album follows Julian’s 2009 debut ‘The Planeteer’, which was released after he was plucked from relative obscurity off MySpace and soon after, found himself at the centre of a record company bidding war. He has since gone on to pen songs for other emerging new artists including Olly Murs while his own debut became an immediate hit with critics with The Sunday Times calling it “catchy but complicated; a surprisingly rare combination” and Time Out comparing him to Harry Nilsson and Tom Waits.
