Pulled Apart by Horses - I Punched a Lion in the Throat
Album Review

Pulled Apart by Horses – I Punched a Lion in the Throat

I punched a lion in the throat is the latest single from Leeds based ‘post-hardcore’ band Pulled Apart by Horses & is taken from their epic self titled album.

The album, released in 2010, has so far received rave reviews and last single ‘Yeah Buddy’ found itself creeping up the radio 1 playlist, much to the elation of any hardcore fan.

SO, this single has a lot to live up to…

It’s a scream-til-you’re-sick onslaught of power hungry peaks and troughs… but will it reach the dizzy heights of the success of ‘Yeah Buddy”… I’m not entirely sure.

With the album now on it’s 4th single, it feels a bit like we’ve heard it all one too many times before. This song in particular is an old one, for anyone that used to follow PABH back in the day playing dingy pubs and bars, I punched a lion in the throat was a popular live track.

So, while it’s nice to see it on the album in the first place, it feels like for THIS single, they could have gone with a different track, or at least released this one earlier… or maybe gambled with a non-album track.

If you’re still new to PABH, of COURSE get yourselves a copy of this track, in fact, the whole album. It’s one of my favourites of 2010, and still gets a regular listen.

If you’re not new to it, I’m sure you’d agree, what we’re missing and needing is some new material to sink our teeth into.

In the meantime, ‘ULTIMATE POWER, MAXIMUM LIFE’… Peace!
