Redtrack – The Trier

Redtrack release their sparkly new double A single Catch Me Out / The Trier on March 31st.

2010 was a breakthrough year for the band and you can see the revamped video to The Trier here.

Brimming with confidence following a breakthrough year last year, the band plan to build on the success of 2010 which culminated in lead singer Billy Wright appearing in parts of the Radio 1 Introducing Master Class’. The Trier video also graced the Topman TV screens around the UK and the band stole the show with a breathtaking, break neck performance at the Leeds / Reading Festival on the Radio 1 Introducing stage. Should we also mention the band appeared on Channel 4’s Hollyoak’s show? And what about the mind blowing set at a Talksport aftershow party which lead to leading agent provocateur Eric Hall insisting Billy wore a jacket left to him my Marc Bolan on future stage appearances.

The band consists of Billy Wright (guitar / vox), Phil Blake (bass / vox) Mitch Silvey (guitar) and Andrew Perry (drums). Hailing from Southend-On-Sea, their bass player has survived an attack with a meat cleaver and they reckon they sound like a cross between Girls Aloud and The Clash. Redtrack also were also featured on the cover of Artrocker magazine and gave away some exclusive tracks late last year via the magazine. Publishing and Booking Agent deals were also secured in late 2010 and 2011 promises to be even bigger with further single releases, festival and tour plans already in place.

‘Whole Town’s Heart’ was the bands debut album release in autumn last year on the Club Fandango label. A chewy and tuneful ten song album and, with its smalltown panic attacks and punchy new wave melodic jabs, sees them nodding towards the classic Britpopesque heritage of Weller, Difford and Costello. Small wonder then that punkoid peer Pete Shelley from The Buzzcocks was so enamoured with the Redtrack tracks that he co-produced (alongside Dave M Allen) their single, ‘Poledancer’, which appears on the debut album.

Pete Shelley wasn’t the only celebrity light shining on ‘Whole Town’s Heart, as it features a feisty guest appearance from ‘Hollyoaks’ starlet Hollie Jay Bowes on ‘Pretty Boy’, a spin-off from the band’s recent performance on the show. ‘Whole Town’s Heart’ was also the first ever album release on Label Fandango, the Pointy Recordings / Fierce Panda offshoot which has previously concentrated on ace singles by the likes of Broken Records, Fanfarlo, Air Traffic and more.
