Bands Wanted To Support Edinburgh Moonwalk

Bands are wanted to join a small army of volunteers to help make this year’s Edinburgh Moonwalk, which raises money for Scottish cancer causes, a big success.

The theme of the 6th annual MoonWalk is ‘Moulin Rouge’. Over 10,000 women and men will come together to take on the famous ‘MoonWalk’ marathon (26.2 mile) and half marathon (13.1 mile) challenge through the night.

The organisers are looking for musicians to play along the overnight route of the MoonWalk to raise the spirits of the walkers – especially in those tough early morning hours.

Small bands of up to four members are needed to play in the streets – and no amplification is allowed out of consideration for local residents. Past entertainment has included string quartets, Mexican bands, gypsy bands, three piece jazz bands, small swing bands and folk bands.

Ideally each band will be willing to play for 2 x 45 minute sets, sometime between 1:00am and 8:00am.

The MoonWalk Edinburgh has so far raised over £9 million. It has granted funds to The Breast Cancer Institute in Edinburgh, enabling them to not only completely refurbish the breast ward but also to build a new operating theatre that is linked to the ward.
