The Beach Boys are to release a 7″ single containing two tracks to help raise money for the Japan relief effort.
Al Jardine of The Beach Boys is quoted as saying: “We felt that the song had a nice basic message of friendship. I also like the idea of that song, because the vocals are a bit under appreciated.
“So this release was a perfect place to showcase the idea of harmony and friendship.”
The tracks “Don't Fight The Sea” and a previously unreleased 1968 acapella recording of “Friends” will appear on the single – the first thousand of which will be pressed on white vinyl with a red label. The following pressing will be on limited edition black vinyl, with all proceeds going towards the American Red Cross.
An April 19th release date has been announced, with the full support of all four of The Beach Boys.
